Common Threads Give-Away

Bounty

I’m participating in the  Common Thread Give-Away again, and November’s featured artist is Kim Gifford.

Whether she’s writing about her beloved pugs or her distinctive photographs, Kim’s work is humorous and heartwarming.  I got to know Kim and her work through the Hubbard Hall Writer’s Project.  It, like she, is infused with an infectious joy.

This month Kim is giving away a matted  8″ x 10″ drawing entitled “Bounty,” printed on watercolor paper and matted to 11″ x 14.”

To enter the contest, visit her website atwww.PugsandPics.com and leave a comment for her anytime between Monday through Wednesday of this week.  The winner will be announced on Thursday.   Then when you’ve commented on her site, take a minute to visit the other artists in our group –   Jon Katz, Maria Wulf, and Jane McMillan!

Dispatches from the Road – Common Threads on the Road

Give-a-Way Photo by Jon Katz

Some things, like this month’s give-a-way photograph by author Jon Katz of Bedlam Farm, are worth the wait.

This month’s give-a-way was postponed a week due to several members’ summer travel plans.  Now, Jon is giving away a photograph of his two most famous donkeys, Simon and Lulu.   The photo is signed by Jon and matted to fit into an 11 x 14 frame. The  title of the photograph is “Simon and Lulu.”

To enter to win leave a comment on Jon’s wife’s site, Full Moon Fiber Art, hosted by Maria Wulf, a gifted fiber artist and regular participant in the Common Thread Give-a-Way.  Jon’s site does not accept comments, so just comment on Maria’s. A winner will be chosen at random from those who commented and announced on all the participating sites on Thursday.

Once you’ve visited Jon and Maria take a moment to visit the other participants in our group as well:

Common Threads – The Things that Bind us

Exhibition

This month I am trying something new by joining with the artists of the Common Thread Give-a-Way.

For much of the last year, a group of artists have come together to form the Common Thread Give-a-way.   Each month one of the group will be giving away a piece of their art.  The Give-a-way is the first Monday of each month.  If you’re interested in winning you just have to leave a comment on the artists blog who is giving something away.  The winner will be picked randomly and announced that Thursday.

This month’s artist is poet and artist Veronica Hallissey.  Hallissey’s blog is From an Upper Floor, and she is giving away a book of her poetry.  I spent some time this weekend with Veronica’s blog, and it is beautiful and uplifting. Veronica is a wonderful poet and I highly recommend checking it out.

As part of the Common Threads Give-a-Way Veronica is giving away a book of her poetry. For a chance to win just visit her blog, From an Upper Floor, and leave a comment. A winner will be chosen at random from all those who commented and will be announced on Thursday. Also, please don’t forget to check out the pages of the other participating artists, Jon KatzJane McMillenMaria Wulf, Kim Gifford, and me!
